IPSIS Urges BCBSMA to Expand PNS Coverage

IPSIS urges Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBSMA) to revise its medical policy on implantable Peripheral Nerve Stimulation (PNS) for chronic pain conditions.

In a July 31, 2025, letter 🔒, IPSIS outlined the robust clinical evidence, FDA clearance, and Medicare national and local coverage policies that support PNS coverage expansions for:

• neuropathic pain,
• complex regional pain syndrome,
• chronic migraine, and
• post-amputation pain.
