IPSIS Seeks Physician Waiver From New $100K Visa Fee
Thursday, October 9, 2025

IPSIS joined the American Medical Association and 50 other national medical societies in urging the Department of Homeland Security to exempt physicians from the newly proclaimed $100,000 fee on H-1B visa applications.
In a September 25, 2025, letter, Homeland Security Secretary Noem was urged to exercise her exemption powers to explicitly exclude all physicians — including residents, fellows, researchers, and those in non-clinical roles — given their essential role in addressing care shortages.
With a projected shortfall of nearly 86,000 physicians by 2036 and 23% of U.S. physicians being foreign-trained, physicians with H-1B visas are vital to maintaining patient access to high-quality care, especially in rural and underserved communities. IPSIS is committed to protecting patient access to pain and spine care.

IPSIS advocates for evidence-based policies that expand access to safe, effective treatments for individuals suffering from debilitating pain. Help sustain this vital advocacy with your donations. The International Pain and Spine Intervention Society (IPSIS) is a tax exempt organization under US section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. As such, contributions are deductible to the extent allowed by law.
