The International Pain and Spine Intervention Society (IPSIS) is the only interventional pain society with membership open exclusively to physicians and those training to become physicians. Nearly 3,500 members in 55 countries rely on IPSIS (pronounced as a single word and not as individual letters) for its renowned advocacy, research, and educational programs designed to advance evidence-based practice and ensure patient access to quality care and appropriate interventional pain treatments. IPSIS MissionLead the advancement of science and standards for Interventional Pain Medicine IPSIS VisionPain interventions consistently beneficial to patients and society HistoryIPSIS emerged from a multi-specialty study group originally formed in 1988 when its founding members started meeting and sharing information on their initial studies on the then-emerging spine intervention field. The group incorporated in April 1993 as the International Spinal Injection Society (ISIS) and began holding cadaveric workshops and annual scientific meetings. The organization’s initial reputation as a leader in interventional pain medicine has been built upon, and enhanced by, the publication of its widely read and heavily cited Practice Guidelines for Spinal Diagnostic and Treatment Procedures,
the global standard of care for spine intervention. |
