Draft AHRQ Review on Interventions for Degenerative Spine Disease

Thursday, July 3, 2025

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has released a comprehensive systematic review evaluating the effectiveness and potential harms of lumbar spinal fusion in patients with degenerative lumbar spondylosis, as well as the impact of selected nonsurgical interventions for individuals with chronic low back pain due to degenerative spine disease.

It is critical for pain medicine physicians and stakeholders to provide feedback on AHRQ systematic reviews since they inform clinical practice guideline development, influence payer coverage decisions, and shape future research priorities. IPSIS is reviewing the draft report and intends to submit comments. We encourage you to amplify our impact by also reviewing the findings and providing feedback during the public comment period, which runs through August 7, 2025.
