New Push to Restore VKS Coverage in Washington State

Thursday, February 27, 2025

On February 20, 2025, IPSIS submitted comments 🔒 formally objecting to the Washington Health Care Authority’s Health Technology Clinical Committee draft decision to deny coverage for vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty, and sacroplasty (VKS).

In the letter, IPSIS cautioned that the decision ignores substantial clinical evidence and contradicts the Medicare Administrative Contractors’ (MACs) Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs), which have long-established clear, evidence-based criteria for patient eligibility.

IPSIS urged the committee to reassess the available evidence and reconsider its position to ensure patients receive safe, effective, and evidence-based care.
