IPSIS Advocates for Increased Medicare Payments
Tuesday, February 18, 2025

IPSIS, along with national and state medical organizations, has urged Congress to reverse the latest round of Medicare payment cuts and provide physicians with a much-needed payment increase. The bipartisan Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act (H.R. 879) presents a critical
opportunity to stabilize physician payments, ensuring that Medicare beneficiaries continue to receive high-quality care.
On January 1, 2025, physicians faced a reduction of 2.83% in Medicare payments. Since 2001, inflation-adjusted Medicare payments have decreased by 33%. While Congress has extended relief to hospitals, ambulances, and telehealth services, it has failed
to address the financial burdens on physicians.
IPSIS calls on Congressional leaders to include physician payment reform in the March 2025 appropriations bill. The passage of H.R. 879 would halt these harmful cuts and provide a necessary 2% payment increase to support physician practices. IPSIS remains
committed to advocating for policies that protect patient access and ensure the financial viability of healthcare providers.
