IPSIS Advocates for Expanded TPI Coverage

Tuesday, October 15, 2024

To ensure the safety of Medicare patients undergoing trigger point injections (TPIs) in high-risk anatomical areas, IPSIS convened the Multisociety Pain Workgroup (MPW) to address concerns regarding the latest Medicare Administrative Contractors' (MACs) Local Coverage Determination (LCD), which classifies ultrasound guidance as investigational.

Established in 2013, the MPW societies represent over 100,000 healthcare professionals dedicated to ensuring appropriate access to interventional pain and spine procedures.
