IPSIS Urges Congress for Medicare Reforms
Wednesday, July 31, 2024
IPSIS, along with national and state medical organizations, has called on Congress to enact crucial reforms to the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) and the Medicare Physician Payment System (MPPS). In a letter addressed to Congressional leaders, our organizations emphasized the urgent need for legislative action to ensure the financial stability of physician practices and uphold high standards of patient care. The letter outlines the following key reform areas: Annual Inflationary Payment Update: Adjusting payments to align with the Medicare Economic Index (MEI). Budget Neutrality Reforms: Addressing inaccuracies in utilization predictions to ensure fair reimbursement. MIPS Overhaul: Replacing the current system with a more straightforward and equitable Data-Driven Performance Payment System (DPPS). APM Modifications: Extending incentives for participation in Alternative Payment Models (APMs).
These proposed reforms are seen as essential steps to stabilize the healthcare system and support physicians in delivering quality care.
