URGENT: WA State SCS Update

Thursday, May 23, 2024

As a result of significant efforts by IPSIS and other interventional pain stakeholders, the Washington State Health Technology Clinical Committee (HTCC) voted to cover Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) for several conditions. This is great news for chronic pain patients in Washington State.

Conditions approved for SCS Coverage:

  • Nonsurgical Refractory Low Back Pain
  • Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy
  • Failed Back Surgery Syndrome

Unfortunately, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) remains not covered.

Please refer to the draft findings and decision for details, and submit your comments to HTCC by June 3, 2024. Your feedback is crucial in shaping the final implementation of this coverage decision.

IPSIS will be collaborating with other stakeholders in formulating and submitting comments. We also invite you to share your Washington State SCS payment experiences on the IPSIS Open Forum or by emailing reimbursement@IPSISmed.org.
