Advocacy Success: Closed-Loop SCS Coverage

Cigna, eviCore, along with Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, have announced coverage for closed-loop spinal cord stimulation (SCS).

IPSIS, as part of the Multisociety Pain Workgroup (MPW), called for reconsideration of classifying the technology as "experimental, investigational, and/or unproven" and provided medical directors with substantial evidence in support of the efficacy of closed-loop SCS therapy.

The new policy is set to take effect on May 1, 2024.
