CMS Assists Physicians After Cyberattack with Advance Medicare Payments

Tuesday, March 12, 2024

In response to the recent Change Healthcare cyberattack, the US Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced a new opportunity for impacted physicians to request advance Medicare payments to help with cash flow disruptions. CMS is working with Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) to expedite necessary actions and support providers affected by the cyberattack. All MACs will provide information on how to request payments on their websites. The details of the program, terms, and the steps needed to apply can be found in the links below.

Physicians are encouraged to seek assistance from health plans and payers, including Medicare Advantage organizations offering advance funding.

IPSIS is monitoring the situation and will continue to provide updates as the situation evolves.
