IPSIS Urges Noridian to Revise ESI Documentation Requirements

Friday, January 26, 2024

Following successful IPSIS advocacy efforts, the majority of Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) revised their documentation requirements for epidural injections.

However, Noridian remains an exception.

On January 18, 2024, IPSIS sent a second letter 🔒 to Noridian, reiterating our request that they review and revise their billing and coding policies to bring them in line with revised policies set by the other MACs.

The IPSIS recommended changes aim to address previously unclear reporting requirements — specifically the lack of differentiation between Selective Nerve Root Blocks (SNRBs) and Transforaminal Epidural Steroid Injections (TFESIs).
