Seeking CPT & RUC Reps

Tuesday, July 18, 2023

IPSIS is seeking U.S. practicing physicians with an interest in coding and reimbursement issues to be the voice of interventional pain and spine intervention on either the American Medical Association’s (AMA) Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Editorial Panel or its Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC).

From the IPSIS seat on the CPT® Advisory Committee, you’ll provide input in developing and revising the CPT® code set used for billing outpatient and office procedures. On the RUC, you’ll advise the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on reviews of interventional pain medical procedures and provide Relative Value Unit (RVU) recommendations.

Interested members must be willing to attend three meetings per year that span 3-4 days each, and participate in periodic conference calls and email discussions on issues that arise in between and in preparation for meetings.

For consideration, send a brief statement of interest and current CV to Sarah Cartagena, IPSIS Director of Health Policy, at scartagena@IPSISmed.org, and complete the IPSIS 2023 Financial Disclosure Survey. All materials must be received by August 1, 2023.

Final candidates will be interviewed at the September IPSIS Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois, and appointment decisions will be made shortly thereafter. For further information, please contact Sarah Cartagena at scartagena@IPSISmed.org or 630.203.2252 ext. 105.
