Opposing Cigna Modifier 25 Policy

On April 18, 2023, IPSIS joined over 100 other medical societies in requesting that Cigna immediately rescind a new policy that will create a disincentive for unscheduled, medically necessary care, and place a significant administrative burden on healthcare professionals.

Effective May 25, 2023, Cigna will require physicians to submit office notes verifying a significant and separately identifiable service with all claims including evaluation and management (E/M) Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) codes 99212, 99213, 99214, and 99215 and modifier 25.
