IPSIS Submits Letter to JAMA on Significantly Flawed Norwegian SCS Study

Wednesday, November 16, 2022

On November 9, 2022, members of the International Pain and Spine Intervention Society’s Standards and Research Divisions submitted a letter to the editor of the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) identifying significant methodological shortcomings related to patient selection and technique used in a recent spinal cord stimulation study from Norway by Hara et al. The Society hopes to see the letter to the editor published in JAMA shortly, and is also preparing a more comprehensive commentary addressing the study. The article will also be thoroughly critiqued in the upcoming December Research Spotlight, brought to you by the IPSIS Research Division.
