IPSIS Comments on CY 2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule

Wednesday, September 7, 2022

On September 6, 2022, IPSIS submitted comments 🔒  to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in response to the 2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) Proposed Rule. Comments focused on three main areas:

Conversion Factor

  • IPSIS urges CMS to work with Congress to avoid significant 4.42% reimbursement cuts that physicians would incur in 2023.

Telehealth

  • IPSIS supports CMS’ proposal to extend telehealth flexibilities for 151 days after the end of the public health emergency, with consideration of permanent implementation.

Chronic Pain Management (CPM)

  • While IPSIS supports proposal to create two new codes for CPM beginning January 1, 2023, SIS feels strongly that the valuation of these codes should be higher and on par with current E/M codes.
