IPSIS, AMA, and Physician Organizations Support Role of Rehabilitation Physicians in IRF Setting
Monday, June 15, 2020
IPSIS joined the American Medical Association (AMA), American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and many other physician organizations and state medical societies in submitting a letter to CMS administrator, Dr. Seema Verma, urging CMS to reconsider their proposal to allow non-physician practitioners to perform services and documentation requirements currently required to be completed by physicians in the inpatient rehabilitation facility (IRF) setting, including medical supervision, development of patient plans of care, and leadership of interdisciplinary team meetings. CMS is strongly encouraged to uphold the role of rehabilitation physicians in delivering and overseeing care for patients to promote the safest, highest quality care.
IPSIS is able to participate in advocacy efforts organized by the American Medical Association due to IPSIS members who maintain their own membership in the AMA. Help IPSIS maintain its seat at this important table by keeping your AMA membership current.
