IPSIS Leads 10-Society Effort to Require Appropriate Training for Fluoro-Guided Procedures in Oregon

Tuesday, December 10, 2019
On November 21, 2019, IPSIS and nine medical societies provided comments to the Oregon Health Authority’s Public Health Division regarding their proposed regulations that would expand opportunities for advanced practice registered nurses to supervise procedures performed under fluoroscopic guidance. Similar to the comments submitted to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the multisociety letter emphasizes that fluoroscopy is not a distinct imaging modality separate from procedure performance and encourages OHA to ensure that individuals performing fluoroscopically-guided interventional spine procedures have obtained the requisite training to protect patients from avoidable clinical complications and poor outcomes.
