IPSIS Again Shares Concerns with California Workers' Comp Division Over Adoption of ACOEM Guidelines

Friday, February 15, 2019

On February 11, 2019, IPSIS again attempted to open a dialogue with the State of California’s Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) about the agency’s adoption of a set of problematic guidelines on disorders of the cervical and thoracic spine. DWC’s coverage policy is informed by the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine’s (ACOEM) guidelines, some of which are not supported by careful evaluation of the literature.

Read the current comment letter and see IPSIS’s previous correspondence for references to specific evidence that supports the effectiveness of many surgery-sparing procedures that the DWC currently denies to Californians with work-related injuries and illnesses.
