Announcing IPSIS
Monday, September 11, 2023

I am pleased to share that effective today, SIS will be known as the International Pain and Spine Intervention Society (IPSIS). The Board of Directors has heard the input from many of our members, indicating that our research, education, and advocacy efforts have covered issues beyond the spine for years, and the breadth of our expertise is well documented in our Interventional Pain Medicine journal. Adding “international” back into the name reflects our long-standing existence as a worldwide organization. Adding “pain” to our name better encapsulates our scope, mission, and commitment to pain medicine and patient care. We believe that this change more accurately conveys who we are today and primes us all for a position of greater influence by uniting physicians across the multidisciplinary spectrum of interventional pain medicine — for today, tomorrow, and beyond. This new name reflects the growth and positive transformation we have seen, and I hope the name IPSIS, which we pronounce as a single word and not as individual letters, resonates well with you. Help us spread this exciting news by sharing social media posts from IPSIS. Regards, David J. "D.J." Kennedy, MD IPSIS President
