Dr. Christopher Merifield, an ISIS advisor to the AMA/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC) attended a RUC January 25-29, 2012 meeting and represented ISIS members in important discussions of interventional spine procedures. The RUC assigns relative value units (RVUs) to each new CPT code and reviews values for existing CPT codes. Those values are then submitted as recommendations to Medicare (CMS).

 

Dr. David O'Brien, the Chair of the ISIS Coding and Reimbursement Subcommittee, attended the AMA CPT Editorial Panel Meeting February 2-5, 2012. The CPT Panel has the exclusive authority over revisions, additions and deletions of CPT codes.
