This course will incorporate the use of one synthetic model to optimize the visualization of the spine.

When you register for this lab you also unlock access to the Radiofrequency Core Curriculum streaming video lecture modules. An integral part of the program, they must be successfully completed prior to attempting the hands-on portions of the lab—enhancing the rigor of your learning experience.

Upon successful completion of the online modules, 4.5 hours of CME credit will be issued on the IPSIS online learning platform, separate from the 12.75 CME credits earned at the live course.

IPSIS is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. ACCME accreditation seeks to ensure that education is relevant to clinicians’ needs, evidence-based, evaluated for its effectiveness, and independent of commercial influence.

Who May Attend

• Registration is open to International Pain and Spine Intervention Society members who are board-certified or in the examination process for certification in: Anesthesiology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Radiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, or Orthopedic Surgery.
  
  
• Members who are not board-certified or eligible for certification in these specialties must have either completed or be currently enrolled in a pain fellowship accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Pain, or NASS-recognized Pain, Spine/MSK Fellowship Program, and begin education with IPSIS with the Lumbar Bio-Skills Lab.
  
  
• Physicians who are not board certified or in the examination process for certification in the following specialties: Anesthesiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, or Radiology, AND have not completed an ACGME Pain or NASS-recognized Pain, Spine, or Spine/MSK Fellowship Program, click here to review the Bio-Skills Lab Attendee Protocol.
  
  
• Physicians residing outside of the United States and Canada who are interested in diagnostic and/or therapeutic pain intervention procedures.

Requirements for Fellow and Resident Members
Fellow and Resident members who wish to take this course must be board-eligible in one of the above six specialties and are required to have previously taken the IPSIS Lumbar Bio-Skills Lab. Fellow and Resident members who have taken Lumbar must contact the IPSIS office at registration@IPSISmed.org or 630.203.2252, extension 102, for a credentials review prior to registering.


Attendee Preparation
Three weeks prior to your attendance, you will be granted exclusive online access to IPSIS’s Guidelines-based lecture modules for this course. These online lecture video modules are an integral part of the program and must be successfully completed prior to attempting the hands-on portions of the lab—enhancing the rigor of your learning experience. CME credit for these online activities will be awarded separately for each completed module, and apart from credit earned via the live on-site lectures and through hands-on lab learning.

You can expect an email from the Society at least one week before the course. This message will contain educational and logistical information that we encourage you to review prior to attending. Upon completion of the course, you will also receive access to the final versions of the lectures that were presented.

Everyone attending our courses should be familiar with the IPSIS Practice Guidelines—the comprehensive compendium on evidence-based spine intervention. A print-only publication available by mail-order, the book includes detailed, illustrated depictions of needle placement and injectate flow patterns for cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacral procedures.

Cancellation Policy
The International Pain and Spine Intervention Society requires cancellation at least 21 days prior to the course to receive a refund less a $150 administrative fee. Cancellation less than 21 days prior will result in forfeiture of all fees. IPSIS reserves the right to cancel this event due to circumstances beyond its control. The Society assumes no financial obligation to registrants for possible costs incurred.

• Analyze the imaging depiction of the relevant anatomy;
• Relate patient history and physical exam findings with imaging to achieve a likely diagnosis of the spinal pathology causing the patient’s pain or dysfunction;
• Describe the literature support for the efficacy of the procedures;
• Identify the risks and benefits of each procedure, as well as assessment, prevention, and treatment of potential complications;
• Apply technically correct performance of the spinal procedures using safe fluoroscopic guidance with minimal tissue injury or discomfort.

Target Audience
This live activity has been designed for physicians who perform spine intervention procedures.
