Allen S. Chen, MD, MBA

Allen S. Chen, MD, MBA, MPH is the Director of Strategy and Partnerships for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at University of California, Los Angeles. He is also the Co-Director of the UCLA/West LA VA Pain Fellowship, and is a double-boarded physiatrist specializing in non-operative and minimally invasive treatments of the spine. He specializes in treating acute and chronic spine and musculoskeletal conditions, and regularly consults with teams and athletes at the collegiate and professional levels. He completed his undergraduate education at Harvard University, MPH at UCLA, his MD at the New York University School of Medicine, and his MBA at Boston University. He completed residency at the University of Washington and his pain fellowship at UCLA. He lectures nationally and internationally and has published numerous peer-reviewed articles, chapters, and guidelines. He and his work have been featured in several media outlets, including the New York Times, HuffPost, Reuters, The New Yorker, The Boston Globe, The LA Times, Refinery29, Reader’s Digest, and New York Public Radio’s WNYC. He serves on the IPSIS Board of Directors as the Education Division Chair.
