Joshua Rittenberg, MD

Dr. Rittenberg is a board-certified, fellowship-trained physiatrist specializing in rehabilitative and interventional spine care. He is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Stanford University.

Dr. Rittenberg attended medical school at New York Medical College and completed his internship at St. Vincent's Hospital in Manhattan. He received his residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Washington in Seattle. He completed a fellowship in interventional spine at the Florida Spine Institute.

Prior to joining Stanford, he was co-chair of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department for Kaiser Permanente Northern California. Additionally, he spent 10 years at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, where he served as Medical Director of Musculoskeletal and Spine Procedures at the Spine and Sports Rehabilitation Center. He was a consultant in the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation Department of Orthopedic Surgery and an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

Dr. Rittenberg lectures nationally and internationally, has chaired numerous courses, and has published original research, review articles, and book chapters in the areas of interventional and rehabilitative spine care. He is an IPSIS Master Faculty member and has instructed, lectured, and been a course director at many of the Society's Bio-Skills Workshops. He has previously served on the IPSIS Board as President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Education Division Chair, and Annual Meeting Program Committee Chair.
