Amir Houshangi, MD

Amir Houshangi is 35 years old and specializes in musculoskeletal medicine in Roermond, the Netherlands. After graduating from medicine, he immediately specialized in MSK-medicine and has practiced since 2016 at Rugpoli, along with Dr. Schepers. MSK in the Netherlands is a combination of mobilization/manual medicine, McKenzie, invasive pain management treatments, and if necessary, referral for surgery. An important part of this method, also known as “the Schepers Method” consists of invasive pain management treatments. Dr. Houshangi has come to know its value both for support and healing in recent years. Sometimes he jokes with his patients that he is a mail courier and fireman, delivering packages to their inflamed nerves to extinguish the fire. He performs procedures in such a way that is pleasant for his patients and ensures that they understand why the procedure is being performed. He accomplishes this by keeping explanations simple and light-hearted and prioritizing keeping his skills and knowledge of the procedures up to date with the highest possible level of education, which he found at IPSIS. After gaining more knowledge and skills at IPSIS, he eventually became an IPSIS Instructor. As an IPSIS member and instructor, he is honored to pass on his knowledge and skills to colleagues so that all continue to grow and help eliminate patient suffering. In addition to his work, Dr. Houshangi enjoys reading books about the origin of our Universe, playing sports, and spending time with his great love and adolescent daughter, Pleuntje, who, by the way, is a cat.
